But the good news for unemployed workers in California is that most of the states cancelling unemployment benefits are Republican led, which California is most certainly not. If you are denied benefits, you can file an appeal with EDD. You must file the appeal in writing and state the reasons why you disagree with the decision. You can use EDD Appeal Form DE 1000M or send a letter on the Notice of Determination. You have 20 calendar days from the date of the decision to file your appeal.
